Project Name: Phase II Intelligent Cold Chain Storage and Transportation Center Project of Huaniu Apple Industrial Park.

Completion date: June 18,2024, China Gansu Province Tianshui City Maiji District.

Project Overview:The Core Logistics Park of Maiji District National Modern Agricultural Industrial Park (Phase II of Huaniu Apple Industrial Park) spans approximately 118 mu (about 19.6 acres) and is divided into three functional zones. The first zone serves as a comprehensive service center, while the second zone is designated for production operations, featuring a 13,000-square-meter sorting and packaging facility primarily for Huaniu apples and local specialty agricultural products. The third zone is a cold chain storage area for fruits, with a 30,000-square-meter facility dedicated to preserving and storing agricultural products.The cold storage facility spans 15,800 square meters, featuring a steel structure with 8-meter ceiling height. Designed to handle approximately 30,000 tons of cargo, it comprises 78 refrigerated units maintaining a precise temperature of 0±1°C.

The construction period is 90 days, and the debugging and cooling period is 20 days.

 

In the context of Apple industry's large-scale development, post-harvest preservation and storage have become critical factors determining industrial efficiency. In China, improper storage causes 20%-30% annual fruit loss, with apples being particularly vulnerable due to their long storage cycle and sensitivity to temperature and humidity. This controlled-atmosphere cold storage project for apples utilizes advanced preservation technology and standardized construction techniques to create an efficient, stable, and energy-saving storage solution. It extends the apple's shelf life to 6-12 months, reduces loss rates to below 5%, and effectively addresses industry challenges like off-peak sales and quality preservation. The project provides core support for increasing farmers' income and upgrading the industry.

To address the storage challenges of Huaniu apples, this project delivers a specialized preservation solution that integrates the core principles of the "Year-Round Storage Preservation Technology" developed by the Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, establishing a comprehensive preservation system covering the entire "harvest-processing-storage-transportation" chain. Technologically, in addition to standard controlled atmosphere parameters, the solution introduces standardized post-harvest treatment with 1-MCP preservatives and precise starch index control to ensure optimal harvesting timing. Equipment-wise, dedicated intelligent processing chambers enable precise regulation of temperature, humidity, and gas composition in Huaniu apples, effectively putting them into a "pause mode" to maintain optimal dormancy. Field trials confirm that apples preserved using this method retain crisp sweetness and juiciness even after 7 months, with average flesh hardness reaching 6.7 kg/cm² and sugar content at 13.6%fully meeting premium fruit standards. With loss rates controlled below 3%, the solution successfully breaks the longstanding myth of "spring cold weather making storage difficult."

Operating conditions: -10°C to 35°C, with a refrigeration capacity of 3600KW, suitable for storing fruits and vegetables.

The project employs a centralized control system and refrigeration cloud, with a designed service life of 20 years.
